Nathan Phillips, Senior Traceability Consultant

Nathan Phillips has established himself as a leader in the management of food processing and food and beverage operations. As a consultant in fishery and business management, Nathan brings expertise in organizational decision-making, business performance, customer service, sustainability, and business growth to his clients. Nathan’s current focus is headlined by his role as Senior Consultant for Traceability with Future of Fish. This role enhances Nathan’s interest in transparency and sound decision making in fishery management and building a strong food system.
 
Nathan is an advocate for locally sourced, sustainable foods, and is a veteran of the hospitality and services industry. Through his roles with Taos Ski Valley, Catalina Offshore Products, the Compass Group, and Bon Appétit, Nathan has provided organizations with expertise and experience on food systems, wellness, business management, fishery management and responsible sourcing. Nathan’s financial and operations work has provided him the opportunity to influence sustainability, procurement, planning, and leadership with organizations such as Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase, WaMu, Amazon, Gates Foundation, Intel, and Qualcomm. 
 
Nathan has also worked extensively in the retail and franchising world as a business consultant and manager for Fortune 100 companies, managing and leading teams handling more than $500 million in revenues. 
 
Nathan has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Sustainability through City University, Seattle School of Management. He considers himself a lifelong learner.
 
Community is important. Nathan has been Treasurer and a Board Member of the Taos Fall Arts Festival and an Advisor for the Taos Environmental Film Festival. In San Diego Nathan served as a Board Member of the Berry Good Food Foundation, and a voting member of the San Diego Food Systems Alliance. Nathan applies his work and personal life to positive change.
 
Nathan lives in Portland, OR with his partner, Molly Morrissey. He is an avid skier, enjoys yoga, the mountains, fine dining, great wines and sharing with friends. Nathan has two children, Matthew and Allison, who reside with their families in Newport News, VA and Fresno, CA.
